Study of the Photoreactivity of Biomolecules by Coupling UVPD Spectroscopy with IRMPD Spectroscopy
In order to better understand the mechanisms governing the photoreactivity of biomolecules, and particularly chiral molecules, we have developed an original experiment that couples UVPD (UV Photon Dissociation) spectroscopy with IRMPD spectroscopy within the SMAS platform. A focused UV beam in an ion trap induces the fragmentation of compounds containing chromophores. After a second step of mass selection of the formed photofragments, they are analyzed by IRMPD spectroscopy. The originality of this approach lies in the fact that UV photofragmentation leads to fragments different from those formed by collision or IR photofragmentation, which depend on the molecular structure of the parent ion.
