SMAS (Mass Spectrometry, Analyses, and Spectroscopies)
SMAS is a mass spectrometry platform composed of mass spectrometers that integrate ion mobility separation (IMS) and selective or even specific ion fragmentation by IRMPD (InfraRed Multiple Photon Dissociation) with tunable infrared lasers of the. Three mass spectrometers at the SMAS platform are coupled to the CLIO free-electron laser: a high-resolution FT-ICR mass spectrometer (Room E10), a Bruker Esquire 3000+ Paul trap (Room E9), and, more recently, a Photosynap (Room E9), a modified Synapt G2 designed for spectroscopy and equipped with a TWIMS ion mobility module. In addition to the CLIO FEL, the SMAS platform has tunable nanosecond pulsed lasers for independent work in the mid-infrared, as well as 266 and 213 nm lasers for UV experiments.
7T FT-ICR Mass Spectrometer (Bruker apex IV Q) coupled with IR lasers
A second Synapt G2 mass spectrometer with a TWIMS ion mobility module (Room E2) is also available, without using CLIO light.
