Technical Equipment of the CPSysBio Group

The CPSysBio group has an extensive range of instruments that support not only biochemical, molecular, and cellular biology experiments but also the detailed characterization of nanoparticles. Accessible to group members and the ICP, the equipment is also available to external users under specific conditions.

Stopped-flow coupled with absorption/fluorescence system and Äkta chromatography system.

                • Chromatography Systems: Äkta system equipped with columns for affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography for protein purification, HPLC, FPLC.
                • Cell Disruption: Sonicators and a cell disruptor (Constant Systems).
                • Electrophoresis, Gel Reader: Fluorescence/BET gel reader, PCR, western blot, rotary evaporator.
                • Centrifuges: For various volumes (µL to L), including a Beckman Optima XE90 ultracentrifuge (maximum speed 90,000 rpm, 0-40°C) and an AirFuge.
                • -80°C Freezers.
                • Biosafety Cabinets (MSC) and Refrigerated Shaker Incubators.
                • L2-Type Laboratory.
                • Electroporation and Nucleofection Systems: 4DNucleofector, Lonza.
                • Sterilization and Biological Waste Disposal Systems: Autoclaves.

Overview of the L2-type laboratory (cell line culture and handling).

                • Spectrophotometry: UV-Vis spectrophotometers (single and double beam), IR and fluorescence spectrometers (Horiba), and a stopped-flow apparatus with absorption and fluorescence detection (Applied Photophysics).
                • Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS): For measuring nanoparticle size and Zeta potential (Zetasizer, Malvern).
                • Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (Nano ITC, TA Instruments).
